Valve’s agonizing piecemeal delivery of footage from the Portal 2 E3 demo continues. These clips introduce Pneumatic Diversity Vents and Thermal Discouragement Beams, because simply creating conduits between two points in space ( four in co-op) wasn’t complicated enough. Sure, those are just vacuums and lasers, respectively, but it’s still enough to give us a headache in anticipation of future gameplay complexity

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be launched on Windows PCs worldwide on September 30 — well, provided you’ve obtained the game, installed it and then clicked on the launch shortcut.

Sega is already selling its Genesis library all over the place (as downloads on XBLA, PSN, WiiWare, and iPhone, and on retail collections). Dreamcast games are due this fall for XBLA and PSN, with one already having been remade for XBLA. Now Sega is considering adding selections from the Saturn library to its catalog of digital releases

Nyko’s Raven controllers for the PlayStation 3 look good and feel, well, the company uses the term “silky,” but we honestly can’t think of better description than “plastic velvet.” Don’t feel weird about rubbing it against your cheek to really experience the odd softness — we did.

With Hothead Games having ceased work on Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 3 (and finishing up DeathSpank ), it’s ready to pursue a brand new project: Swarm , a game which stars some seemingly dull-witted blue things. The introductory trailer (which you can find beyond the break) gives us a Lemmings vibe, with just a touch of sadism . Players must take control of 50 Swarmites, navigating them through “gauntlets of death and destruction,” all in the search of precious DNA.
